Prof. Arjen M. Dondorp

Prof. Dondorp was the lead author on two large studies comparing parenteral artesunate with quinine for the treatment of severe malaria in Asia (SEAQUAMAT) and Africa (AQUAMAT).

He is a member of the WHO committee on guidelines for management of severe malaria. Prof. Dondorp his main research interests include the treatment and pathophysiology of severe malaria, antimalarial drug resistance and improving critical care in resource poor settings.

He is Professor of Tropical Medicine at the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Thailand and at Oxford University, United Kingdom, and is also Consultant Physician (Internal Medicine) at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
